So my friend Robert Blackett challenged me to the The Fresh Face (aka I Woke Up Like This) challenge begins. The idea being to share a photo of our faces in their natural state before were ready physically to go out into the world. I thought, sure- not so hard (details below on his request). I was quite shocked to see all the girls who he tagged who were BEAUTIFUL who didnt want to participate. As mom and step mom of three gorgeous girls, and raised by two strong & gorgeous women, my mom and grandma- I was raised to believe we are ALL beautiful and special. Yes, its nice to wear make up- or dye our hair if that makes us happy, but that doesnt define WHO we are. We come in all sorts of different shapes, sizes and colors and that is what makes us all so unique and beautiful. And beauty (in my humble opinion) really does come from within. It shines through the sparkle in your eye, and sweet smiles. So read on to Robbies post below, and join me in this challenge... I think its important not to lose track of the Pay It Forward/Social kindness aspect of the initial Ice Bucket Challenge. While that was silly to some, and vain to others, it did shed some light on a disease that would otherwise have gotten little attention. To that end I would like to shed some light on Body Dysmorphic Disorder or (BDD). A link will follow with information, so hold tight. There are indeed those are never comfortable in their own skin, whom are never happy with their own bodies, whom are insecure at such a profound level that it consumes them. While Im not insisting people donate, it is encouraged. Promoting confidence in the bodies we were given with a sense of fun and shared vulnerability is the goal. This may never make it beyond me, and will probably seem silly to half my feed, but I cant say I care much. I snapped this literally seconds after I opened my eyes for the fullest wtf effect.
