So my idea of a dream Halloween is virtual -- with some of my favorite people: Annette and Andrew and Kirsten would read her stories… There would be candy apples and ghoulish decorations and darkness and -- I dont have that many good childhood memories, but I do have good ones of Halloween, including the one house (of a Jewish family) we would always visit last… because there we would sit down, inspect our candy loot and my mother would relax and talk with the woman of the house… and oh yes they had ghoulish and ghastly decorations, they went all out every year to make their front porch a spooky haunting… My friends and I would would trick or treat up and down the whole block. We loved the boxes of cracker jack. We hated the folks who would throw pennies into our pillow-case trick or treat bags. Childhood actually was magical at those times, looking up at the sky.
