So my status and figures about the Dominican Republic being a Mixed Race society have been questioned once again...I received this message from a colleague who viewed a Documentary on The History of the Dominican Republic stating: Whats particularly interesting here is the researchers findings that 90% of Dominicans are descendants of African slaves (statistics which would seem to somewhat negate the numbers you posted on your fb page recently about only 10% of the nation being black identified Now - What I stated was that about roughly 78% of Dominicans are of Mixed Race (Not NEGATING Blackness) and about 10% of Dominicans are of PURE African Descent (These are figures from the DR Census) - Now we all now how to add here: 78% + 10% = 88% (Which bolster the argument that 90% of Dominicans are of African descent) Being of a Mixed Race Society is not NEGATING BLACKNESS...Its showing we are more than just ONE Race - we are 3 Races!
