So my verdict on the planetarium show, Violent Universe, playing - TopicsExpress

So my verdict on the planetarium show, Violent Universe, playing at the Chaffee Planetarium grpm.org/explore/planetarium/ Its a nice, polished, professional, and very pretty presentation... of information I couldve recited from memory. Im not the audience for it, I fear: its at the public museum, and the audience is families with young kids who are learning these wonders for the first time. I went there looking for new inspirations for my stories, but this show is more about inspiring those kids. The visuals were beautiful. Patrick Stewarts narration was smooth. But the content was aimed at a level too low for me. The opening feature, on the other hand, was a very moving short bio of Roger B. Chaffee. I learned some things about our hometown astronaut that I never knew before. It was quite a tribute. And they followed that up with a demo of the capabilities of the new planetarium, which was very cool. Everything is computer rendered from astronomical data. Yes, they CAN show recorded video, but they can also use the computer to just navigate through space. THAT was inspiring.
