So, mypoor Kali just cant catch a break with her thyroid issues. She is just not responding to conventional treatments! She is HYPER thyroid, which is the LESS common thyroid issue. Means everything in her system is speed up - heart, breathing, digestive tract, brain, everything! She did the Radio-active Iodine treatment (radiation to kill off the thyroid), and it had a reverse impact and caused her hormone levels to triple. The 2 doctors working on her case at Strong, said they have only ever seen this happen once, and not even as high as Kali. They then put her on a PTU drug to try to strip out thyroid hormones from her system. Nothing. They went up more. Her heart rate is rapid, her BP is up, she is shaky, anxious, has terrible isomnia, headaches, nausea, etc! Her Free T3 is at 16.4 - normal is 3 to 4.5ish and the test only goes tests up to 20! So, they are now trying a new drug to strip out hormones and have added a heart medication to try to slow everything down and decrease the pulse rate and strain that the hormones are causing to the heart! Ughhh! Lets all hope this FINALLY helps!
