So now Deutsche Bank have waded into the debate with predictions of a 1930s style depression if Scotland decides to become independent. I say decides although increasingly, what with promises of doom and turmoil from bankers et al, its looking more like coercion. Today its Deutsche Bank, tomorrow someone else no doubt. I would imagine therell be some placed exclusives in the Sundays tomorrow from other banks, heads of business all saying how disastrous an independent Scotland would be. Its all part of the all too obvious underhanded campaign to instill fear into potential Yes voters. Lets just remember that banks dont have a heart and most certainly wont be considering what is best for Scotland, for Scottish people and their future. As for more subtle concepts such as identity, pride, unity, strength, excitement, self-determination, care, and a government more acutely representative of its people, well those are totally lost on them. The banks will however be thinking about what is best for them, and saying what is best for them. To expect anything else is like expecting cats to start barking. This would appear to be one of those situations where they doth protest too much and if there is any reason for Scots to vote Yes it is because banks so vehemently want you to vote No. Surely that tells us something about the banks agenda even if they are not explicit about their real motives. By not showing their hand, they show their hand.
