So now living in Tennessee, far away from friends and everything that is a part of who I am, I have been feeling really nostalgic lately. For those who know me well, you can attest to the fact that music has played a major part in my life in one way shape or form. From when I started out as a roadie for a wedding band called JUNCTION back in 1978, I have had the bug in my system, and have been lucky to have had the experiences occur in my life, that create the memories that have been cropping up lately. So to deal with this in the only way I can at this present time, I will be sharing some of these experiences with you, my dear friends. So lets start with THE CLUB COD. This club opened in 1981 at Devon and Sheridan in Rogers Park by Hank Zemola. This was the beginning of the punk rock era in Chicago that lasted roughly 9 years. Our opening act was the hottest punk on the circuit at the time, which was THE DEAD KENNEDYS. We booked EFFIGIES as the opening act and later found out that contractually, we needed to find someone else to open for Effigies. I heard a band rehearsing in a garage on my street and we gave them the gig of being the real opening act for the show. They were NAKED RAYGUN. So I looked up this song in remembrance of The Club COD. This was DKs big hit song at the time. Stay tuned all, as some of you musicians will be included in my trip down memory lane.
