So, now that Im rested, I think I will share a few highlights with those of you who couldnt make the wedding ceremony. It was a very long wedding. But they had so many unique and meaningful parts that they will always remember and cherish. Its hard to capture it and the meaning of it in pictures. When you walked to the top of stairs, it was like you stepped into their lodge. (tipi). There were back rests hanging on the wall and a buffalo robe on the floor with beautiful pendleton blankets hanging on blanket ladders on each side. His smudge box was in the middle of the buffalo robe. It was very colorful. Then you could either go to the right of the left to find a seat. They both come from very large families on the reservation, so that the tables filled up quickly. The ceremonys emphasis was more about family and vows they took to one another . On the tables were pictures of Lona and Tyson and their kids and their grandson. They had a part in the ceremony where the kids went up, one by one, hugged Lona and Tyson and then lit a candle. Lona and Tyson each lit a candle and then they lit one big candle to vow to become a family together. Not a step family, but a family. It was very touching. The minister gave them a wonderful talk from his heart about marriage both from Christian and traditional points of view as he legally married them. Then they sat on the buffalo robe and smoked the pipe with Peter and Delores Weasel Moccasin whom they asked for traditional blessings for their lives together. Then they fed their guests a wonderful meal. Like I said, it was very meaningful and very beautiful.
