So ohmygod we have a BAT COLONY living on our house behind the shutters. And I dont even want to peek in the attic. At least 14 of them - big ones - swooped out tonight at dusk. There were probably more like 20 or 30 of them but we didnt stay outside to keep counting them all. We were all outside sitting in Adirondack chairs and watching the kids scooter. I was just thinking what a Norman Rockwell painting it all was when the colony of bats swooped out and mobbed us. Ella ran SCREAMING into the house in terror. So much for Norman Rockwell. Am now Googling bat removal methods and companies and learning all kinds of stuff I really dont want to know about the dangers of bats in your house. Apparently even though bats eat thousands of insects and mosquitos per night, they can present a risk of rabies, they can bite, they can spread bat bugs, not to mention bat guano, they are very difficult to remove, and all kinds of other creepy shit. Why cant our lives be drama free for just one week? And why cant I get the Scooby Doo Theme Song out of my head?
