So on Tuesday I had a youth on the job that was being very disrespectful and passive with every staff he came in contact with...as a result the facility administrator came from up top and pulled the youth from the group to council with him.. The remainder of my group later on was getting ready for dinner and walked into a conversation with the facility administrator explaining to the troubled youth the situations with the recent deaths of the young african american men in our country lately...the youth seemed to be responsive to the situation and stories being told...but it moved something in me....our program is a thirty bed facility when I left work Tuesday the base count was 26.. Out of 26 kids there is two Caucasian youth and two.Hispanic youth..the rest....African American... These kids are our future and how things are looking... There isnt one. We gotta stop standing in our own way..quick to throw the race card but hurt each other daily. Not giving room for any other race to minimize our kind because they will never understand our logic and why we feel so strong about certain situations but we too play a role in our own downfall.....when we prey on each other we give away our voice and give others the room to do as they please.....all Im saying is we gotta do better....
