So on a funny note, my stay at the hospital last night ended up - TopicsExpress

So on a funny note, my stay at the hospital last night ended up being me against the easy chair rocker. Ready to sleep, I took the blankets and proceeded to lay them out over the big, cozy chair after pulling the lever to raise the leg support. Doesnt this recline farther back? I thought. I moved around the chair to the back of it and found the info card. Yes, it does! Good. I jumped on it, settling in to a nice, comfortable spot and pushed against the arms of the chair and sure enough, the back reclined farther. Ah! I sighed. As my body slowly eased into the chair, I started feeling the aches and pains of the day. My foot was cramping a little from the need for a stretch. As moved just a little to reach down to my leg, I was suddenly snapped into a seated position. What? Crazy chair, I thought, chuckling lightly. I rubbed my calf a little and pushed against the chair arms again into the recline position. As I started to adjust my pillow, I again got snapped back into a seated position. Okay chair, now stop that! After several repeat scenarios of reclining and being snapped back. I decided, well maybe if I lay higher up, my body weight will keep it reclined. Wrong! I nearly was ejected from the seat. At that point the pillows and blankets were a heap of tangled mess as I tried to force the back of the chair to stay reclined. I crawled up to the top of it, on hands and knees, and threw my whole body weight on it. As it bounced threateningly under me, I considered just sleeping upside down on the chair, but realized how goofy and possibly scary that might look to the nurses. Maybe I can wedge something in the sides! I thought. So getting up, I grabbed a huge handful of paper towels and folded them tightly. I then proceeded to wedge them into the sides of the chair. For a moment it seemed like the chair might stay. I sighed and got comfortable again. But, the leg support had empty spots, so I tried to slide a blanket down. Snap!!! Back to the upright position. By this time I was sweaty and irritable. I wanted to sleep. Well, maybe if I move my body down and lay with my head on the seat area, I can throw my legs over the regular chair and sleep that way. I got back up, moved the small, red chair in front of the recliner and sat back in the easy chair. Scooting my body down, and now with my lower half resting on the leg support, I stretched my legs up over the red chair. Thunk!!! I felt a jarring motion as the weight of my bottom resting on the leg support, slammed onto the floor. Ouch! I just sat there for a moment thinking I might just stay like this and not move all night. Duh! I retorted to myself, This is a rocking chair too. I finally, tiredly, scooted my body back onto the seat area, pulling my legs in with me into a ball like a cat in a box. With my smallness, I could just sleep at an angle and drape my legs over the side, couldnt I? Nah, too uncomfortable. Oh wait, okay, Ill prop the bottom part of the leg support on the red chair to keep it from tilting down to the floor. Bingo! I finally made a bed I could sleep in. I untangled the four little blankets and the two pillows and laid them out. Slowly I crawled onto my new creation. Yes, this will do. Thankfully Im built compact, so this tiny little space worked for me. I laid my head into the seat, propped up a little on the chair arm and stretched out. Ahhhh! Snooze time! Aside from waking momentarily to the occasional nurse check-ins on Carla, I slept okay. Sleep tight all my Wonderful Family and Friends!!! Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts, positive healing energy, encouraging words, powerful prayers and love!!! May you be blessed by the Heavens for all you do that is good and kind! :)
