So on my travels today, I come across a stray Husky. I stop the car and call the dog who gladly approaches me and when I coax her into my car, she gladly jumps in. Once in the car, I see her collar with a handwritten message: SHADOW WILL RUN HOME - JUST SAYING HI! With a phone number. I nearly lost it! I phoned the number and left a message. Took the dog to my vet for safe keeping and asked for help on this page for a contact person. I phoned Joanne. Anyway, the owner phones me and explains that she recently got divorced and that she has had to move back to her parents home. The property is not Husky proof and hence Shadow is allowed to roam the neighbourhood! The area that is secure is too small for Shadow, she claims! So what if I stole your dog today and was not a nice rescue person but a dog fighter? What if your dog was killed by a car or left half dead and injured? What if your dog ate poison? What if your UNSTERILISED dog becomes pregnant? So many what ifs!!!!!!!!!! She still says that she does not owe me any explanations and I explain to her that she does as I was the person that collected the body of the dead Daxie in the same neighbourhood who was also unsterilised and never quite made it home - just saying! Oh and her previous 3 dogs were all killed by cars! But they were not street roamers but got killed by accident! So, Joanne will phone this lady tomorrow and see how she can be of assistance in Shadows dilemma. Thank you Joanne for your time and help. Thank you Helderkruin Vet for keeping Shadow safe and thank you to the people of this page for responding to my plea for a contact number . . . just another day in rescue!
