So, one of the shopkeepers pissed me off today . One of the transient friends i know had asked if i had a bit of change . Knowing him well enough that he would buy a coffee , i fished out the bit of change I had . Normally I would not give transients money, as I do not know what they will spend it on. I will however walk to the foodbank or soup kitchen with them and show them around and let them know how the programs work. I gave this man change only because I now know him well enough and he does volunteer with one of the aforementioned groups. The shopkeeper glared at me and said thats why those type of people keep coming back Whenever I hear those type of people I cringe and bite my tongue. A person on the street deserves respect as anyone else . To not show respect only makes them feel like one of those type of people I have yet to experience any ill will from the homeless. If I have no change , most usually say thank you. I think we get what we put off . If I was a hateful s.o.b I am sure some would react in the same manner. Maybe tomorrow i will bring bread crumbs downtown to feed the pigeons . Maybe theyll shit on the shopkeepers windows . Or maybe I will walk into that shop with my friend and say we are here to shop. Are we both welcome ? Hopefully ..the answer is yes.
