So our NCS group have decided to support 2 charities as part of our 2 week social action project. Our first idea requires us to hold an open day at a local youth centre for single parents to make them aware of a weekly session taking part to allow them to have some me time. The centre will provide support, somewhere quiet to write a CV and apply for jobs and colleges, a group of supportive individuals sharing similar experiences and just a place to go when theyre really feeling the strain of being a young parent. Any donations we receive will be going towards providing tea and cake for the public and any young parents and their families who wish to attend the event. The second half of our project requires us to spend some time with the Medical Detection Dogs charity who train and provide dogs to those with serious and life threatening illnesses to help make their lives easier. Trained dogs can save an individuals life, they are able to detect abnormal levels of blood sugar which can prevent a diabetic individual from fainting. If anybody could share this link to our site set up for donations, or of anybody could actually donate themselves, we would be incredibly greatful. Any amount is enough to make a difference.
