So our politicians are considering laying a legal duty on Facebook - TopicsExpress

So our politicians are considering laying a legal duty on Facebook to report posts that threaten terrorism. Consider these facts (and I pay tribute to Richard Barrett of MI6 and SIS on the Today programme this morning) There are 25 million facebook users in the UK posting around 100 million times each day. Who is going to read these? I cant even keep up with everything on my newsfeed. And even a simple substitution code like using pruning instead of beheading will defeat search algorithms. Then again are facebook expected to report dissidents who we support to regimes who we dont because there is a law in their countries that lays that duty on social media? And if not why not? And if reporting a possible future threat is so important why have our politicians not made it a crime to fail to report child abuse within institutions both public and private? We dont want our people attacked but our kids are fair game? Or is it that there are no terrorists in our governing class (arguable) but there are paedophiles who are good chaps who went to the right schools and belong to the right clubs? Do you lead us so because you are fools or villains?
