So, over the weekend I saw Godzilla. I thought it was pretty good. I actually first saw it the Friday night it came out, May 16th. But I needed to see it again because I missed the entire ending due to me taking some medicine beforehand that I forgot makes me drowsy. I liked the acting, especially from powerhouse actor, Bryan Cranston. He gives so much emotion in every performance he does. I think its impossible not to stand out. He is the emotional core of the movie. Sadly, something happens to him early on that Im not crazy about. Aaron Taylor-Johnson does pretty well as his son, Ford a solider who specializes in bomb diffusing. Elizabeth Olsen is good as his wife, Elle. And I liked Ken Watanabe as scientist Dr. Ishiro Serizawa. Then theres the big guy himself. I thought Godzilla looked awesome. A little bigger than I would have him and he had stubby feet, but still cool nonetheless. His iconic roar is there for fans to hear and it is amazing. The special effects and visual effects with him and the other monsters he fights, were cool. But I really didnt think he had enough screen time. That seriously bummed me out. Its his movie. When you make a Godzilla movie, the thing people really want to see is Godzilla destroying things, fighting, and doing just what he, the King of Monsters does. Also, director Gareth Edwards would cut away right when a fight scene would begin. I thought that was very annoying and frustrating. It would cut to a TV news report or another scene. The end was fun. Godzilla does do what he does best. But I didnt love the story. I was excited to see this movie because I love Godzilla, but after seeing it I dont think it was awesome. I felt disappointed and underwhelmed. It might sound crazy but I think the 1998 Godzilla is more entertaining. I also think X-Men: Days of Future Past is way better. I think that was the best movie of May.
