So part of my reading for class this week is a essay from Henry W. Spaulding II, Ph.D. discussing Covenants and understanding the significance of them. I thought this quote was interesting: "The term covenant means, in its broadest sense, a solemn promise which is made in a binding oath. This promise, as it is recognized by both parties, binds each to fulfill his/her pledge. Covenants were an essential part of communal life in the ancient world. Understanding these covenants will enhance our grasp of relationships and, as such, the delicate tissues which bind human to human."
