So, per my previous post, I asked for a topic/idea for a poem. I had one response, and it was the beach. Here is the poem I wrote today for the beach: Our Beach Laying under the sunlight Sand covers my feet Warm wind brushes my hair Waves coming in steady A few children out in the distance I can hear their laughs, screams, and cries It’s almost the same setting as that day That day we spent together It was the longest day And God, it was beautiful The sand covered our feet The waves were steady A warm wind brushed our hair The sunlight filled our eyes We built sand castles Collected seashells Chased each other Held hands Then watched the current Take back our castles and seashells At sunset we packed up We knew there would Never be a better day I want you to know I come back to this spot Year after year To see you again In the sunlight In a child’s laugh In a wave across the sea In a sound of a seashell This is were you’ll always be In one summers day
