So placements are going on in IITs and you must have heard in the news that XXXX from IIT KGP got yy crore Rs package in ABC company of USA and AAAAA from IITB got zz crore package in EFG company of USA. Am I right or am I right? ( Yes, sometimes I watch Adalat ) Let me tell you something about my(someone elses) cousin. He is 22 years old, from a local college which is not anywhere in rankings, own a software start-up and earns 15 crores per year. ( 15 crores~ probably more than the placement of 10 batch toppers of any IIT ) And no one knows him, never any newspaper or TV channel highlighted him and his start-up. His company never trended on any social media for 2-3 days, never became talk of the town. You know what, this is one of the main reasons why India has failed to produce tech-giants. Because we- our society, media and everyone encourages students to become employee number XYZW in some foreign company. Credits: Inside IIT
