So preparing to put our home up for sale has reinforced to me several things I already knew but had maybe forgotten. I want to be sure you know them also: 1) you never know how long you may be in your home. Even tho you may have a plan to move in 5 years or 1 year or 20 years, you just never know....so make it how YOU want it while you live there. Weve been here 11 years... much longer than we anticipated and I have ALWAYS decorated it for us; not for resale. Life is too short to live in a home that isnt you. 2) Sometimes we get so used to seeing something the way it is that we no longer see it. Example....I had gotten so used to seeing ugly carpet in our bedrooms that I had no idea how BAD it was until we got new carpet last month. OMGosh. New carpet = a DREAM!!!!!! Sometimes you need to look at your home with fresh eyes to see what really needs done in it! 3) I asked for opinions on this page about our exterior house color and our new front door color. The colors we went with were not really the ones the majority of the people voted for. And so I was second guessing myself, but went with my gut anyway. And I am SOOOOOOO glad that I did. I love, love, love, love the new colors. I cant wait for the sun to come out in Kansas City so that I can take a picture to show you all. At the end of the day, your home, your colors, your décor is so PERSONAL. No one knows what you will like best better than YOU. So ignore the trends if you hate them, ignore what I say to do if it isnt you, ignore the bloggers...... go with YOUR gut and your taste. THAT is where your best style, your best home is found. xoxo, Jennifer
