So proud of Maddux! He is not a sports nut, but we make him play. Through sports, we hope he can learn the value of community involvement and gain confidence. Unfortunately, he never remembers his past achievements when he steps up to the plate in a new game, so each game is a challenge. As his coaches can probably attest, he is not the easiest kid to coach, as his thoughts are usually elsewhere, but he is eager to please. And seriously, he celebrates every single achievement with such enthusiasm, from a basehit to crossing home plate. His dad, Toby Pearce, has put a ton of hours into him, trying to teach him the fundamentals in ways that he will best understand, from watching YouTube videos on sliding to reviewing videos of him hitting. I hope he looks back on these days with fondness. I do love to watch him play.
