So sad! A teen drowned at High Falls today. I would always tell my boys not to go there and swim to go to the rec pool but they would a couple of times every summer and swim at the rec. They enjoyed going with their friends. But every time there was a drowning I would immediately tell them. Year after year. To make them think. I told them, not a summer goes by that someone does not drown there. Then I think what got them was a little girl was about to go over and her dad jumped in to save her and they both went over the falls and drowned. As far as I know the boys didnt go back after that. My dad told me that he knew someone who was in the water there and he turned around and saw the biggest water moccasin he had ever seen in his life very close to him. 40 years ago, I saw a huge water moccasin on my great-grandfathers farm at the creek. I noticed these huge ripple waves in the water and I looked just to see the head of a water moccasin and it was just about the size of a softball. I jumped up and ran to the house. It still scares me thinking about it! Praying for the family.
