So sad that its been five years and we still have no legislation like Oreos Law or CAPA, which would require shelters to work with reputable rescue groups. Its great news that Helmetta is finally being investigated but Helmetta never should have been able to happen in the first place. A mayor and a director decided to make that shelter their personal domain, dismissing volunteers and employees who spoke up, denying rescues animals that could have been saved and eventually even locking out the public who came to adopt or look for their missing pets, lest anyone take photos of the horrendous conditions there. Its time for us to protect the animals that have no voice.
