So someone on the Choice FB page gloated at Choice for supporting 500 unhappy TM customers against 200,000 happy ones. This was Choices reply- Were think Thermomix is a top-notch product, and our testers have nothing but praise for its performance. If youre a happy Thermomix customer, then were happy for you. But what has left a bad taste in other consumers’ mouths and led to the awarding of our Shonky award is the secrecy and choppy communication around the launch of its first new model in seven years, the TM5. As Thermomix customers know, it takes some time to arrange the purchase of a Thermomix with the need to attend a demonstration and order a model. Weve heard from a number of customers who ordered an old model but had yet to receive it when the new version was released. A number of these customers had asked if a new model was coming, only to be told it wasnt. If a company refuses to give customers some notice before a new model goes on sale, at the very least they should make sure their sales representatives arent giving customers misleading information in the lead-up to the launch. We have received feedback from hundreds of Thermomix customers saying theyre not happy with the launch of the new model. Considering the high number of displeased consumers over this issue, we felt it was necessary to give them a voice. CHOICE campaigns on many issues including financial advice, food labeling and digital rights, and were never afraid to represent the interests of consumers.
