So something i feel like ranting about, though probably no one - TopicsExpress

So something i feel like ranting about, though probably no one will actually care. I take Vitamin C pills due to the fact i get sick easily, and i truthfully dont think i get enough of the vitamin in my diet. Well, something that has been bugging me for a while that i want to explain. -The average man needs about 80 mg of Vitamin C a day. -The average woman needs about 75 mg. -Your body can hold about 200 mg and any more then that and itll just flush itself out. Meaning if you take 300 mg of VC, 100 mg of that goes to complete waste. -So basically 75 mg equals 100% of your Daily value. most Vitamin C supplements say, on the back, to take over 300 mg. Mine tells me 420 mg which is supposedly 800% of my daily value of VC in about 6 pills a day throughout the day (each of my pills hold about 70 mg, and theyre not really pills but tablets that dissolve in my mouth). So based on what Ive discovered, that means if i did take the full 420 mg id be wasting 220 mg of VC that i will never get back. Which means id be taking more pills then i need to, thus wasting money. The reason im ranting is because, the health and drug industry, which obviously know this, are using peoples ignorance to make us spend more money. Yeah, theyve always done this, the same with the food industry. But they are posting complete bullshit as far what is healthy for you. In fact too much VC can be damaging to your body in great amounts (kidney stones, nausea, diarrhea). So the fact that they are telling us to take more then is necessary is only damaging to us in the end ( physically and wallet wise). I only take one pill a day of the tablets I have since that is all i need to get my full days worth of VC. The thing is theyre most likely doing the same thing for other vitamin supplements. If youve actually read through this little rant of mine. First off thank you for reading, that makes me feel like people actually care what i have to say. Second, do some of your own research on these things. A majority of Americans take vitamin and mineral supplements, trusting the labels to tell them how much is needed. Dont trust the labels. If there is a certain vitamin you wanna take, research the necessary amount first. That way, when you actually go to buy it, youre a step ahead of the game. Itll save you money and your health. --Rant Over--
