So something occurred to me today. In My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the people of the world (ponies, I guess) have to regulate everything. The satellites do not revolve without the intervention of their god-queens, and the seasons do not change without direct action. In one episode, they must end winter in order to cause spring to happen. Nothing operates on its own there, except a region called Everfree Forest which is feared and avoided because the plants and weather happen there all on their own with nopony to control anything. There is also an entity called Dischord. Hes a spirit of disharmony, and unhappiness. Basically, hes a godlike entity that delights in screwing everything up. When hes around, he just breaks things. Things fall up, cherries turn into cannibal monsters, clouds rain chocolate milk, words happen backwards, just weird stuff. The thing about that is that Dischord used to rule the world (Equestria). He was a god-king. Further, his rule ended when Princess Celestia and Princess Luna discovered six powerful artifacts called the Elements of Harmony and used them to heighten their own power, and trap him in stone for 1000 years. They then united all of the ponies under their rule. So the thought that occurred to me is Is the world a static sandbox because Dischord permanently broke it? Would they want to fix it if they could, considering everyones fear and distrust of actual, dynamic nature? Is Everfree Forest the last little piece of the world where things happen as they are supposed to, or is it the last bit of Dischords influence, explaining why it gives birth to bizarre, magical creatures like Timber Wolves and Manticores?
