So sorry to hear the passing of WRAYs Richard Lankford. Richard was such a kind gentleman. A true legend in our area. I had the privilege of having him call several games I was involved in from Little League baseball to high school basketball and baseball games, as well as the years I played basketball at OCC. I remember when I was a boy (5th and 6th grade) and was the ballboy for OCC mens basketball team, Richard would always motion for me to try and palm the basketball. Of course, I couldnt but I went home and worked on it every night. I think he was just as thrilled as I was when right before the tip off at a home game he motioned for me to palm the basketball and I did. We both grinned from ear to ear. Great memories from a absolutely wonderful man. Basketball games will not quite be the same without hearing Richard say his infamous, Boom, from long range ..... Enjoy the special box seats you will have from Heavens grandstand as you watch your beloved Tigers and Oaks (and we would like to think Titans, Aces, and Trojans as well).
