So strange. BJPs Prime Ministerial candidate accuses Congress of promoting slaughter houses in the country, paints an alarmist picture of the growth in Indias meat exports, feeds minds-for-votes of cattle-rearing communities like the Gujjars. He calls it the Pink Revolution. (It is a different matter that meat export from Gujarat and number of meat-processing facilities there have increased over the past decade, says my newspaper.) But, Pink Revolution? Sigh. I thought Secular was the most abused-misused word in the country. Seems like Revolution follows suit. When everything is communalised, why leave out animal husbandry? Anything for votes. And to think such narratives WILL fetch votes. So, who am I to complain?
