So thankful for this rain! Thank you Jesus! We dont realize just how much we need the rain until we go without for a while. Grass begins to turn brown, tree leaves start to shrivel up, flowers droop and sometimes die, ponds slowly lose their water. Everything just starts to look really sad and dull. And as time goes by without rain, we begin to get used to it. We adjust. But then it rains! The entire color of our world changes. The smell is different. Fresh. Flowers and grass instantly begin to show a little life and the leaves on the trees perk up. Everything looks brighter and cleaner. New again. Some of you may not know this, but I sing with a praise team and a worship band at my church. I can remember back a few years ago during a Wednesday night service when the presence of God was so thick on the platform that it was heavy. Amazing feeling when you now that God is just hovering over you! We were singing a song that says open the flood gates of Heaven, let it rain. I can still see the whole image of this moment playing in my head. As we were singing that song, I remember looking out at everyone thinking that they must really be worshiping with us. Well, they werent. What?! How could they not be feeling this?! Didnt look like anyone was even listening to the word, much less feeling what we were feeling on stage. In my mind I was talking to God and asking Him why He wasnt raining on everyone. That small voice in my head said, I am, some people are just afraid to get wet. WOW. That has stuck with me ever since then. People are afraid to get wet... I dont want to be afraid to get wet. If He is moving, I want to feel it! I need the rain! I need His rain to refresh and renew my spirit! Jesus dont ever let me be afraid of Your rain pouring down on me. Open the flood gates of Heaven on me and on my life. Open the flood gates on my family Lord. Keep my mind and my spirit refreshed and alive by your rain washing over me. In Jesus name, Amen. The next line of that songs says, feel the rain of Your love, feel the wind of Your spirit, now the heartbeat of heaven Let us hear it. I am so thankful for the rain, and the wind and more than anything, to be able to feel His heartbeat.
