So thats another fundraiser done and dusted. The turnout slowly grew throughout the day and by the evening we had a great little Honky Tonk goin. Theres so many people to thank, all the musicians, many of whom dug deep into their own pockets to get to the event, let alone hours of driving. Gary Rudd travelled from Lincoln to help me as a The Shackdusters and play great bass tones in the evening set, joined then by the great Jon Amor and my good friend Broomers Live on keys, he really tore it up. Afternoon set was the dream pairing of Pete Mathison and John Jon Green who provided some serious grooves to give my songs a whole new life. Duncan Kingston on electric bass that seems to be replacing the acoustic. Sangers Stage Show got the day of to a great start and then proceeded to thoroughly enjoy himself with his lovely young lady throughout the rest of the day ( hope you got to the party Dave ) Rob Lear stopped my band members in their tracks with his heartfelt songs and wonderfull delivery. The Fishkillers Neville Farmer John Jon Bridger and Gianni Cossu got everyone thinking and talkin about the highly original nature of their songs. Paul Osborne rolled out great piano set bringing the blues back to the event. Extraordinary thanks to Steve Hill who kept his cool throughout the day doing the sound non stop from 12 noon till 11pm. He worked under very difficult circumstances with an idiosyncratic pa system, Steve cant thank you enough mate. Also to the wonderfull Bev who managed the merch/cd table throughout the day. Big hugs to Mick Candler for providing the grooves ALL DAY ! also aided by my old mate Stuart Fiddes. Last but not least Steve Henwood and Arran from the Bell for giving me the room for free to help the cause. Apologies if Iv left anyone out, hopefully pics will come in, ( I forgot my camera ) Funds raised announced shortly, just totting up, Bless you all, what a day ! Im so lucky to have such great friends.
