So thats the stand set up and almost ready for the day of fundraising tomorrow at Kings Equestrian. We are in Halloween mode tomorrow onwards so if you are coming along dont forget to have a go on our trick or treat dip, get your fun and spooky bag or have a go on the toy lucky dip plus the big feed raffle is running as always. All funds raised going towards the winter care of our sanctuary and foster horses and ponies. While I was sorting out feed there was time for a good chat with Trustees Ann and Bryan and Sam this evening, discussing the next stage of the work to be done at the sanctuary. All our old fencing is being replaced over the next few months ahead and we have more stone on order for the back yard as well as storm panels going up in the next couple of weeks ahead to knock off the northerly wind from the back yard. Its a never ending battle keeping up with the repairs, updating and ensuring everything is done to make the work run smoothly and of course we ahve to work within the constraints of available funding - mostly funding is pre-allocated for feed/fodder/bedding/veterinary but at last we have a little spare to use for the urgent ground work. There is lots to do but all is positive and all will last through a good long time of use ahead. This evening the westerly wind is strong and blustery and showers are dampening the ground. Even little Larry has a little rug on ahead of the big storm coming and the rest remain in lightweights too. We took down the middle field electric fencing line as the ponies can then gallop about if they need to with no fear of getting caught in a fallen fence. Probably now the forecast will have changed and the storm wont come after all. Dont forget that tonight the clocks go backwards that crucial hour. Tomorrow we start the haul through the short daylight hours until March comes again. I hope everything, including us, is still standing and safe by the time Tuesday arrives.
