So the GP co-payment of $7 is on hold because it wont get through the Senate, yet we are now faced with a $20 reduction of what medicare pays to the GPs , which of course will be passed on to patients. I gather this is for the shorter visits- so instead of just taking my Mum in for her B/P and some scripts, we should somehow sit there for an extra 5 minutes so this doesnt apply? Que? Some may say doctors earn a lot- but I believe they deserve it. Years of training, then spending your working life hands-on with sick folk- imagine a day of pus and blood and bad smells and hands up peoples nether regions, colds and flus and the occasional hypochondriac. Not to mention mental illness, where there is no-one else, cancers, dementia patients and addicts. The GPs have to deal with these things every day. So our illustrious government is taking away money from them? CRAP!!!!
