So the Government launch their plans to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Rising with a rehashed Bord Failte video. One would think Bob Geldof or the English Queen fought in 1916 for our independence. There isnt a mention of 1916, the proclamation, the Citizen Army or the Irish Volunteers or anyone else in the video. The revisionism of our history and of the rising is well under way, the main reason for this is because this government and their predecessors have failed the Republic and everything the men and women set out to achieve and what was declared in the proclamation. As 2016 approaches we need to rededicate ourselves to the principles of 1916 and achieve the unfinished business, which is the reunification of our country.
