So, the Oscars were last night. I think it was a fun show for 2014. Ellen DeGeneres did a great job hosting. She was funny and clever. She didnt really deal out a lot of zingers and snarky jokes like past hosts have. But I didnt think that was a problem. She brought a cool and laid-back feel to hosting. She made the celebrities feel relaxed and would interact with them a lot. Especially with how she got pizza for everyone. I thought it was great how she took a picture with Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence and other big stars and posted it to Twitter. It actually crashed Twitter after it went up. Its also now the most retweeted tweet of all time. Thats crazy. And the stars really looked like they were having fun. 12 Years a Slave took home the big award last night, Best Picture. It does look amazing and I heard its phenomenal and deeply heart-wrenching and profoundly moving. I do want to see it. I was just hoping my favorite movie of last year, Gravity would win that. I also would have been ok if Captain Phillips won. That was a great movie, too. Alfonso Cuaron did win for Best Director, though for Gravity. I think that makes perfect sense with how amazing the movie looks and everything that went into the technological elements. It was quite an achievement. Matthew McConaughey won Best Actor for Dallas Buyers Club. I was thinking it would go to either him or Leonardo DiCaprio. Many actually thought Leo would take it. It would have been his first one ever. I think hell get one soon. Frozen won Best Animated Movie, which Im really not surprised about. Its become a huge hit for Disney and the song, Let It Go has become a monster hit and won Best Original Song, also last night. Gravity took home a lot other awards through the night. I think they were all well deserved. I really liked the In Memoriam tribute and the very cool heroes montage. There were many big winners last night for great performances. And like I said, overall it was a great and fun show.
