So, the commission voted tonight to begin the process of dissolving our contract with Nations Park LLC. Personally, I felt that the park had been stagnate long enough, and I want to do whats necessary to move forward. We could have gone after Nations legally, but I think we would have spent more money on the legal fees, with an uncertain outcome. We voted in favor on creating a short term contract with Elite, Gainesville Sports Commission, and our own Parks and Rec department to try to run some tournaments out there this summer. We will also begin the process of RFPing the park to see what other organizations are out there. I feel like we made some real progress tonight. My hat is off to this commission for their willingness to think outside of the box, take some chances, and keep it local all at the same time!
