So the conclusion I come to is this: Israeli military society is more open than ours, apparently. Because of this everyone here and elsewhere feels like theyre a well-informed critic. Gaza deaths? Terrible. Israeli deaths? Terrible. Genocide? Not hardly, and Ill challenge anyone who says so. Thats hysteria or maybe its latent anti-semitism (Who? Me? Im no anti-semite!). Any time you draw a distinction between you and anybody else, youre anti-them. That even goes for Brian Eno, who once told me he had originally professed a great love for Israel. I dont see hair being torn out over the ongoing drone attacks in Pakistan killing whole groups of families. That was the point of my brothers piece in reply to Brian. I think if we knew, wed object, but we dont hear about it too much, and we dont want to know. Because that is us, and it just goes on and on and on. But if its Israel, its makes the news. And everybodys a critic. You want genocide? The Coalition of the Willing (Suckers) killed by conservative estimates over 500,000 in Iraq. More liberal estimates put the figure over one million. Thats genocide, and WE did it.You and me, if you live anywhere in the countries that attacked. For love and glory. And dont get me started on Afghanistan. Who are any of us to point the finger and cry Genocide?
