So....the data confirm the dangers of EMS as a profession (see the article). Yet, while the fire service and the police service take their safety training and safety equipment very seriously, the emergency medical services community does not seem to do so. What can we do about this? If the audience is not receptive, no amount of policy, procedure, or training can make a difference. Our priorities seem to put comfort over safety, time off over safety, and relaxation over training....or so I observe. What to do? Or do we just accept that we will have, pay for, and suffer high rates of injury amongst ourselves? jems/article/health-and-safety/ems-still-most-dangerous-profession
