So the event at TruPoint was okay. Not the greatest ever, but - TopicsExpress

So the event at TruPoint was okay. Not the greatest ever, but okay. We collected quite a few pen and ink signatures of our petition and have what looks like a very solid application for Duncan, the little dachshund mix weve had since the first of the year. I also learned from a passerby a little bit about Duncans history. Apparently his name was Marley at one point and he roamed at large in the Farmer Street area because his owner did not take care of him properly. Well, hey--at least hes being cared for now. I want to send out a special thanks to our wonderful volunteers without whom none of this could have happened. First, Brian Sutherland, who helped me load heavy crap into the car this morning after we all overslept due to sheer exhaustion, then helped me chase that silly Doberman of ours and the other dog she conspired with to escape the porch even though catching them made us even later than we already were. Not to mention the fact that he walked around in a dog suit all day, and even went up to Walmart to buy stuff dressed as the Tazewell ARC dog. Thank you to Howie Boyd and Angie Boyd for remembering exactly how I take my coffee! That was awesome, girl. Floored me when Howie came rolling in with a latte fixed just how I like it. :-) Thank you to Colleena Owens for ALWAYS being there to help us, to Brianna Meadows the Cat Lady for being there and getting the male demographic to take an interest in adoption events they might not otherwise have. LOLOL! Thank you Bubbles for being such a big part of this rescue and helping at so many of our events. (Bethany Mayhorn.) And special thanks today to Alex Wyatt for starting early and ending late--you were at the bank holding down the fort while we were still chasing dogs all over Adria. And you were still assisting our other volunteers long after I had come home and quit the fight for the day. I waved at you when you left but I doubt you could see me. Also, thank you so much to all the people who stopped and signed the petition, donated, and took an interest in saving Tazewell County dogs. You are what gives us hope that No-Kill will be a reality! And last but not least, a quick update on our little sick dog. He had one bout of diarrhea early this morning that was not bloody. No more all day whatsoever, and his pee is normal in color and volume. He is still drinking small amounts and holding it down. Tomorrow Ill offer him some chicken broth and maybe some soft cooked rice to see if I can tempt him to eat. Tonight he was quite a bit spunkier and even jumped off the low table I set him while Im giving him fluids. So think were definitely moving forward, and at this point Im cautiously optimistic that he is going to pull through.
