So, the girls reported to me the goats seem hungry after a day in their meadow. I inspected the meadow and it seems they have finally overgrazed it and its time to let the meadow rest and reseed it with clover, alfalfa and other things goats love. Tomorrow, Daphne shall reconfigure the corral with electric fence and that will serve them as a meadow for the remainder of the year. Meanwhile, I will cut tree hay to get them through the day. The training corral is a fifth of an acre, sufficient to keep a half dozen goats happy the remainder of the season but it has no shelter, so thats part two of the plan. Ill have to whip together a couple wattle hurdles (quite literally) and set them out as a run-in. And over the season well have to begin fencing two new meadows, one for the goats and one in the East 40 for the horses. Creating new meadows will allow us to rotate the animals around better. Thank goodness its a vacation, I have too much work to accomplish to be bothered with work.
