So, the headliner at the Ithaca Underground show at The Haunt in Ithaca, New York last Friday was The Kraken Quartet, who describes themselves as a percussion group. True that, but they also represent something, to me, a lot bigger - the kind of fundamental experimental music that pushes the envelope and makes you think. Its stuff like this that shows the real breadth, depth and tenor of quality in the local music scene. We have pop, rock, indie, alternative, americana, roots, metal, shoegaze, country, bluegrass, you name it - and all at the highest level of grade. These guys demonstrate just how true that is. Here they are performing Windows to open their set on August 1st, 2014. Videography, editing and post-production by Jonathan A. Hochberg (with additional third camerawork provided by the band).
