So the last 3 days have been somewhat eventful..Mary Hart Geis I think you will appreciate this! So Wednesday morning, new puppy Zeke in the early hours of the morning had a run in with something hard (the Rottie or the Lab?) and proceeded to look at his momma (me) with this piercing, sad, dejected face all the while producing this painful whine to almost a howl sound. Needless to say, off to the vet we go where he is crying and hiding his head in my arm the whole way there. Enter the vet in the room: Zeke eats treats while vet pulls, prods and manipulates rear legs and spine. Where were the howls that filled the car on the way there? Verdict: a bruised leg, here are the meds, we will check on you later. Sweet. Off I go with dog in tow. However, a few hours later: the howl, whine monster appears. Momma panics, calls vet (ok calls a lot, about every 2 hours). Finally he settles down to sleep. Day 2: Zeke wakes up and appears to be better. So much so he is wandering and exploring around the school as puppies do. Then, on the way home at 3 pm, the howl monster appears AGAIN! Momma calls vet AGAIN! Arranges for appointment tomorrow just to appease momma (by now vet thinks Im crazy!). Day 3: Just as day one, I have to carry him gently with one hand under chest, one under back end just to keep him from yelping, vet comes the in room, picks up Zeke like any normal time and takes him for Xrays...Zeke NOT A PEEP out of him! REALLY? Good news: Xrays come back negative. All is good he is just pushing his healing limits and makes himself sore. Bruised leg is still the diagnosis with the added Zeke just knows how to work the momma for sympathy. At check out, Casey my vet tech asks vet you gave Zeke his pills, did you give momma her anti anxiety meds so her puppy can heal? Ha Ha...They do have a sense of humor! After busting him for playing with the Rottie and the Lab, he made it to 6:00pm today before beginning his whining but he no longer has ME wrapped around his paw! Or does he? He is now sleeping peacefully after a good essential oil massage, apple cider vinegar compress, and of course, lots of cuddling! OK, hes got me! - Troy Miller And Patricia Patrick-Carsten he is doing awesome!
