So the last couple weeks I have been coming home to find Cappy has gotten up on the counter to find food. (He hasnt quite grasped Daylight Savings Time) So among all the dishes, cans, or whatever he can grab to try and eat, he also broke my sandwich maker, since I had used it the night before. Shaming him and withholding treats has not been effective, so I had to get a bit meaner and sneakier: I dusted the counter and stove with cayenne pepper. (It was something I was told to use when he was getting out of the yard under the fence.) I come home tonight and he didnt come immediately to greet me, which indicated he knows he did something wrong. Looked in the hallway and saw nothing out of the ordinary on the floor. I looked at the counter and saw what he had did: there was a section of the dusting missing, meaning he got a nice helping of the pepper. This may sound cruel to some, but I have to have him stop doing this. He might one day pull the wrong thing off and hurt himself. And using the pepper is about the safest thing I have to deter him...
