So, the last few days has been very very interesting! I finally got to see some of the City documents (Park and Rec) on the 2012 4th of July... In my opinion the documents are missing ALOT! Remember, I was advised that- the documents would be few, well they sure seem it! I did get a disk.. maybe that has the rest... maybe. Today, I go out to the base to do an article about some Skaters in the city.... I thought a photo of the Skate Park would be nice. I arrived at 4:30PM and everything is closed. But, I saw a lady and some children, so I take a few pics of the park and walk toward her, I ask her if she knew if the Skate Park was closed? She said, it opens at 5:00 PM WHY? with attitude. She asks me who I am? (I am wearing Press ID), I tell her who I am and that I am with OUR TOWN-newspaper. She asked if I was recording her (WTH). I said, no... I was not (I do not play like that and this is a Skate Park- WTH). So, she has this attitude.. When I told her I am taking pictures of the Skate Park, she wants to know if I got permission.. lol a Public Park -okay. She says, We are not allowed to talk to you? I said, Who is we? She would not answer me. I asked for her name and she refused to give me her name, yet she works with the publics children. Then she says, I know who you are- you were on the 4th of July Committee. (INTERESTING HUH) it gets deeper.... I had to walk away- she was so rude and awful in front of all these little children (Park and Rec is doing a day camp there). Ten minutes later, I get this phone call from a former Park and Rec person.. hmmm makes me wonder. 20 minutes or more, I am standing in the street/grass edge on my cell phone with my boss- just enjoying the area.. it is a nice area. Then a Park and Rec staff approaches me. And asks; if she can help me. I am on my phone talking and 60+ feet away from the building. I said No, can I help you? So she proceeds to tell me how I am next to this car with my pad of paper and she thinks I wrote the license number down. WTH- WHO IS WATCHING THESE KIDS?? they are so busy watching me and why am I so important??? She tried to cover for the last girl- saying that they are not to talk to press until they okay it with their supervisors. I asked then, why did she mention me being on the 4th of July Committee? No comment from her. Interesting day folks! Could it be- I made some folks in Park and Rec unhappy by asking for documents? Sure seems like that to me!
