So the local country station was hosting a contest for the winner - TopicsExpress

So the local country station was hosting a contest for the winner to get to front row tickets with a meet and greet session with the band. You had to send an email telling them why you were interested in the tickets. Below is the email I sent from my dad that won him the tickets super excited for him but not nearly as excited as he is!!! Just funny how the timing of the dates in the email correspond with this contest :-). The winner was announced this morning the 23rd and concert is this Friday the 25th! Good Morning Dan, I was asked by my 71 year old father, Fred Woleben, if I would be able to send an email to you for entry into the Time Jumpers contest as his computer skills are to be put nicely limited. The cutest part is he gave me a piece of paper with your email on it that said dan at whug dot com I told him I would be happy to do so, just let me know what he wanted to say. What he told me made me cry. In order to make sure I got all the information my dad wanted included, I recorded him dictating to me what he wanted to say. Here is his edited version. Dear Mr. Warren, My name is Fred Woleben, a 71 year old county music lover and a local music performer for 31 years. Ive always been fan of the Country swing, Bob Wills style music, just like the Time Jumpers. As a huge fan of Vince Gill, I couldnt think of anything more perfect to be able to see up close and personal a person who I admire and whos music has touched me so deeply at a tragic time in my life. Every year this time becomes a difficult time for me and my family. Back in July 23, 2000, I unexpectedly lost my only son, Craig Woleben, he was only 30 years old. The next few days were a blur; however, the thing I remember very clearly is that the song that was played during the funeral was Vince Gills version of Go Rest High on That Mountain. It was the only time during that crazy period that gave me a small sense of peace, listening to that song and knowing that my son would be resting high on that mountain. My son being an avid hunter, lover of the outdoors and country music, no better song could have played by any better singer than Mr. Vince Gill. So Mr. Warren, when I heard about this contest on the radio, which I faithly listen to, the timing couldnt have been better. I really appreciate you listening to my story and considering my for the contest. Thanks again, Fred Woleben. These details were a surprise to myself until my dad was recording his message last night. I watched the pain in his face and saw the tears in his eyes and writing this was difficult because I could hear the 14 years of sorrow in his voice but what I do know makes him happy and puts that glimmer of hope back in his eyes is country music. Thank you for his contest consideration. We will be listening with fingers-crossed on July 23 for a winner to be announced . It definitely gives us something positive to look forward on a difficult day where we all try very hard to stay positive and celebrate his life, not just mourn his death.
