So the phone rings this morning. A bubbly young lady tells me she is from the NYS troopers association. She tells me that the NYS troopers are going to crack down on Drunk driving this weekend to keep me and my family safe. I said that sounded splendid. (Yes, I said splendid). So she asked if I would do my part. I said certainly I would. I will be glad to not drink and drive. She said I didnt understand, keeping me safe from drunk driving costs money and she wanted me to donate. In my finest feigned shock performance I said, my God, I knew the state was in bad shape under Cuomo but I had no idea that the troopers had to work this weekend for no pay. I said I would call the governor at once. Then she made her tragic mistake. She said the troopers were being paid. About 45 seconds into my lecture about my taxes being my contribution, she hung up on me. Lol
