So, there is a lady custodian whom works for the Lindsay High School, her name is Penny. She is such an inspiration! Penny gives 100% and more at cleaning, and keeping the high school looking nice and clean. Shes constantly on the go...constantly working and multitasking,...constantly giving whatever shes doing, her best. ( Shes Cindy Rammings sister and Cindy works hard too) Let me tell you some things I learned about Penny while sitting in the high school lobby keeping gate for the basketball tourney. Penny once was a player for the Roller Derby and now she coaches a team. Twice-a-week she drives to Lawton to coach a team, that is, AFTER she drives a school bus route both mornings and afternoons, and works all day as the custodian. Before Christmas break, she made approximately 60 snack bags full of cookies and candy for all of the kids who ride her bus. There is a small stray gray tiger cat that is hanging out at the school. I first saw it Friday as I was keeping gate. Penny bought a hot dog wiener from the concession stand, cut it up, and fed it to the cat because it was hungry. May not be a big deal, but her compassion even goes beyond blessing kids, but blessing all of Gods creation, and in this case, a small gray kitty. With the temperature in the 20s and the wind chill in the teens both Thursday and Friday, I saw Penny drive her truck around the school, picking up trash and trash bags from the trash cans outside and replacing the bags...she never complained...oh, and by-the-way, In 2 days I never saw the other custodian, only Penny. Penny has a work ethic second-to-none and she inspired me to be a better worker and better person. She knew I couldnt leave the gate because I was the only one there during the day and she would ask me if I needed anything. The hardest worker in the building and the busiest person on premises asking me if she can get me something or do something for me...the person sitting in a chair taking money and reading to pass the time. Wow...So, the meaning behind this post is this...parents, youre blessed that the custodian cares about the appearance and the cleanliness of the school your child attends and keeps it cleaner than most homes. She, herself, is clean and neat. Her work ethic is quite noticeable as she is constantly on the move working...If your child rides her bus, your child is blessed because she obviously loves the kids enough to make 60 snack bags full of goodies for them at Christmas. She loves them enough to take extra precaution for the safety of your child while on her bus. I have always cheered and went for the underdog, and in most cases a custodian is looked down upon and an underdog; but not Penny. She is far from being looked down upon or of being an underdog. She is a BLESSING! And you are blessed to have her around your kids every day. So, thank you, Penny for being such a great person, hard worker, inspiration and great example; not just for the kids at school, but for us all!
