So there was a good discussion on Brighton on a thread below. In another, it was muted that Left Unit might stand against the GP in Brighton. So ignoring the tribal Labour ‘left’, including the Labour supporting unions like the GMB for a minute, why do the Trots, Leninists or traditional socialist left hate, dislike or distrust the GP so much? I think this is critical to discuss and understand as we rush to cut off our noses in forthcoming elections. Is it any of the following, or something else: 1. We are not of and by the working class. 2. We do not have a theoretical foundation in a socialist doctrine. 3. Our opposition to neoliberalism and market fundamentalism is not anti-capitalist enough. 4. They do not recognise the ecological imperative and our social justice and ecological sustainability ‘two sides of the same coin’ argument. 5. Reform is the enemy of the revolution and we are reformers (i.e. a tactical argument).
