So, they tagged up the same house in our neighborhood again last night, and I just watched Steger police arrest a couple guys. There were about ten of them circling the block, definitely focused on that house. Cop said they were Latin Kings from Chicago Heights. Ill be honest, Im sick from this. I was outside with my children, talking with my ex on the phone, right before the police showed up. Im afraid theyre going to think I called, and my house will be the next to get shot up or vandalized. I know there are the two split camps -- the Hey, Steger is a great place to live! and the Get out while you can people -- but Im pretty much with the get outs at this point. This is awful. Yes, I do appreciate that the police are out doing their jobs, but this is nerve-wracking. Ive never, never, never had to worry before that my house was going to be targeted by gangs. I really did check crime stats before we put an offer on this place, and I just have to assume that most of the crime around here is going unreported, because it didnt look bad at all.
