So, this cake, well, it was pretty epic! It was ordered for a man who has done a little bit of travelling in his time. 80+ countries!! So, his daughter wanted an antique style map with markers for each of these places. Oh, an she lives in Cambridge, I live in Somerset and the cake needed to get to London.... Ive done a bit of hand painting directly onto cakes, namely grass borders. Painting the world was a different league altogether! Scale caused a bit of an issue as hes visited seemingly the whole of Europe and Europe is quite small! So, a degree of artistic licence was involved! I wanted the cake to have an illumanate feel, so I mixed gold lustre dust with the colours on the borders and the latin phrase I incorporated. That translates to Well travelled, which is apt really as the cake itself was well travelled.... Getting the cake to London was the first hurdle to overcome. A Facebook plea was issued and sons of a mutual friend agreed to drive the cake to its destination!
