So, this gonna be a long post. Ive been debating if I should blast this or not but it really just comes down to practicality. Ive made so many great friends throughout the years, it would literally take a month to contact you all individually so I hope you understand why Im doing this via facebook. Ive been dealing with illness for a while and long story short, it took the Docs awhile to figure out what is going on. I still need more tests but its clear that I have Cirrhosis and will for the rest of my life. At first it seemed very serious and that there was a possibility of cancer as well. I saw a great Gastroentrologist today who is pretty convinced that cancer is very unlikely and that with a big lifestyle change I can keep it under control. Like I said, theres still a lot of tests and there is sure to be some speed bumps along the way but it could be so much worse. For obvious reasons Ive been reflecting a lot lately and also thinking about the future. A lot of amazing things have happened in the last couple of years with some great new projects on the horizon that I want to put everything into, like growing RIOTstage, being a part of building a better arts community in Long Beach and especially downtown, getting The Fiction album finished (its so close!!!! But this liver thing messed it up!!), putting together a permanent Fiction line-up and getting our set really tight and a couple other things that should be announced soon. Theres so much going on that Ive decided im gonna take a break from playing shows for awhile. Touring and locally. Im gonna play every Wednesday in October with Mike D at Pints, and on Nov. 7th and 8th were doing the next RIOTstage show, Classic Album Double Bill, and then Im taking a good break. I do have to say Im so damn excited for the Classic Album show. Ive never been more excited about anything musically than doing Elvis Costellos The Juliet Letters. Ive wanted to do it for over 20 years and finally, heres my chance. So unbelievably stoked and after were done with the Juliet Letters, I get to sit back and watch some of my best friends, who are also some of my favorite musicians, perform the entire Beach Boys Pet Sounds album and all for my friend John Molinas birthday. Total insanity. I hope a lot of you can make it. Its going to be one of a kind event. Anyway, thanks for taking time to read this and for so many of you being such good friends for so long. Btw, I cant drink anymore so dont be offended if you offer me a drink and I turn you down. Just trying to stay alive yall!! :)
